SUMMARY:30-Hour Civil Facilitative Hybrid Mediator Training - online
DESCRIPTION:30-Hour Mediator Training – online – Thursday evenings Sept 14 through Nov 2.\n\n\n30-Hour Civil Facilitative Hybrid Mediation ONLINE Class  \n8-week class – Thursday afternoons beginning January 25 \nDates: Jan. 25\, Feb. 1\, 8\, 15\, 22\, 29\, Mar. 7\, 14 \nTime: 1:00 to 5:15 pm \nCost: $800 \nCRC’s 30-Hour Mediator Training is a comprehensive\, experiential course that teaches how to skillfully facilitate conversations between people in conflict by having frank and important dialogues and assisting them to reach mutually satisfactory outcomes. This course is designed for all individuals wanting to learn to mediate for use at home\, in their communities\, and professionally for social workers\, attorneys\, psychologists\, and many other human-centered professions. \nDuring the training\, mediation students learn the mediation process and gain skills to help mediation participants have productive conversations and support their self-determination. Each module of CRC’s mediation course is infused with discussions of bias\, race\, and other cultural difficulties\, and students are challenged to be aware of their affects of joining participants’ conversation during this vulnerable time of conflict. Students learn to identify the interests and fundamental needs that underlie the positions of people in conflict and learn ways to listen effectively\, manage impasse\, and tend to the needs of all participants. Additionally\, participants learn skills to remain neutral in challenging situations and gain an understanding of ethical issues that may arise when mediating parties in conflict. \nParticipants will purchase The Mediator’s Handbook: Revised & Expanded Fourth Edition (look for the orange cover)\, by Jennifer E. Beer and Caroline C. Packard. It may be purchased when registering\, and it will be mailed to you with the course manual. You will receive the materials a few days before the first session of class. It is also available through on-line bookstores. \nCredentials: This 30-hour Civil Facilitative Mediator Training is certified to meet all requirements of both the Minnesota Supreme Court’s Rule 114 Training Guidelines and the Community Dispute Resolution Program Training Requirements for community mediators in Minnesota. Upon completion of this course\, participants will be eligible for inclusion on the Minnesota Rule 114 Qualified Neutral Civil Roster as well as be eligible to volunteer with community mediation centers throughout Minnesota. \nProfessional Credits: \n30 Alternative Dispute Resolution Credits (ADR) \n30 Continuing Legal Education Credits (CLEs): 25 Standard)\, 2 Ethics\, and 3 Elimination of Bias Credits \nCRC is a non-profit organization. If you are interested in this training and feel you cannot afford to pay the entire fee\, please go to scholarship application under the Trainings/Events tab at www.crcminnesota.org and complete the scholarship request form. \nGROUPS: If you are interested in registering a group\, please contact janet@CRCminnesota.org to inquire about group rates. \nTrainers: \nErica Backstrom \nErica holds a Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law and is a qualified neutral under Rule 114. SUMMARY:Building Relational Skills in Mediation - The Basics
DESCRIPTION:Move your mediation practice forward by practicing skills that avoid problem-solving and fixing for participants.\n\n\nImprove your mediation skills by understanding and practicing a relational style of mediating that provides tools for participants to feel empowered and deeply understood. \nIn today’s conflict climate\, transactional and problem-solving approaches to conflict provide little support for personal conflicts\, and may\, in fact\, be harmful to participants who lack equity\, have unhealed trauma\, and many others who need to process difficulties and emotions. However\, these are skills that can be used in any mediation with great success. \n2 CLE credits. (If you are a CRC volunteer and are wanting the CLE credit\, you should register as an attorney. Thanks!) \n2 ADR CE credits awarded. \n$60 CLE credits \n$40 ADR CE credits \nNo charge for active CRC volunteer mediators – If you do not know the Promo Code please contact Amber at amber@crcminnesota.org.
