SUMMARY:30-Hour Civil Facilitative Hybrid Mediator Training - online
DESCRIPTION:30-Hour Mediator Training – online – Tuesday and Thursday afternoons May 9 through June 1\n\n\n30-Hour Civil Facilitative Hybrid Mediation ONLINE Class  \n4-week class – Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in May and ending in June \nDates: May 9\,11\,16\,18\,23\,25\, 30 and June 1 \nTime: 1:00 to 5:15 pm \nCost: $800 \nCRC’s 30-Hour Mediator Training is a comprehensive\, experiential course that teaches how to skillfully facilitate conversations between people in conflict by having frank and important dialogues and assisting them to reach mutually satisfactory outcomes. This course is designed for all individuals wanting to learn to mediate for use at home\, in their communities\, and professionally for social workers\, attorneys\, psychologists\, and many other human-centered professions. \nDuring the training\, mediation students learn the mediation process and gain skills to help mediation participants have productive conversations and support their self-determination. Each module of CRC’s mediation course is infused with discussions of bias\, race\, and other cultural difficulties\, and students are challenged to be aware of their affects of joining participants’ conversation during this vulnerable time of conflict. Students learn to identify the interests and fundamental needs that underlie the positions of people in conflict and learn ways to listen effectively\, manage impasse\, and tend to the needs of all participants. Additionally\, participants learn skills to remain neutral in challenging situations and gain an understanding of ethical issues that may arise when mediating parties in conflict. \nParticipants will purchase The Mediator’s Handbook: Revised & Expanded Fourth Edition (look for the orange cover)\, by Jennifer E. Beer and Caroline C. Packard. It may be purchased when registering\, and it will be mailed to you with the course manual. You will receive the materials a few days before the first session of class. It is also available through on-line bookstores. \nCredentials: This 30-hour Civil Facilitative Mediator Training is certified to meet all requirements of both the Minnesota Supreme Court’s Rule 114 Training Guidelines and the Community Dispute Resolution Program Training Requirements for community mediators in Minnesota. Upon completion of this course\, participants will be eligible for inclusion on the Minnesota Rule 114 Qualified Neutral Civil Roster as well as be eligible to volunteer with community mediation centers throughout Minnesota. \nProfessional Credits: \n30 Alternative Dispute Resolution Credits (ADR) \n30 Continuing Legal Education Credits (CLEs): 25 Standard)\, 2 Ethics\, and 3 Elimination of Bias Credits \nCRC is a non-profit organization. If you are interested in this training and feel you cannot afford to pay the entire fee\, please go to scholarship application under the Trainings/Events tab at www.crcminnesota.org and complete the scholarship request form. \nGROUPS: If you are interested in registering a group\, please contact janet@CRCminnesota.org to inquire about group rates.

SUMMARY:Neurodiversity in Mediation with Sierra Grandy
DESCRIPTION:Two-hour webinar on Neurodiversity in Mediation with Sierra Grandy\n\n\nIn this two-hour training\, we aim to raise your awareness of neurodiversity and provide language and context to neurodivergent experiences. Including discussions about the difference between “neurodiverse” and “neurodivergent\,” the Social Models of Disability vs. the Medical Model of Disability\, and a brief overview of some of the traits you may see in neurodivergent individuals. After we set you up with a common frame of reference\, we will shift to discussing how neurodivergencies within mediation participants may impact mediations and some accommodations that may be helpful. Finally\, we will finish with a discussion about neurodivergencies within mediators and how recruiting more people with neurodivergencies to become Qualified Neutrals can play a role in the ongoing diversity\, equity\, and inclusion discussions surrounding conflict resolution. \nSierra Grandy is a neurodivergent second-year law student at the University of Minnesota and is a law clerk at a local law firm. In addition to being in law school\, Sierra is a frequent public speaker on disability topics\, most of which focus on mental health or neurodiversity. Most recently\, she was on a panel of legal professionals for the February Federal Bar Association Luncheon “Out in the Open: Unseen Disability in the Legal Community.” \n 2 ADR CE credits awarded \n2 CLE credits applied for \nNO CHARGE for active CRC volunteer mediators – If you do not know the Promo Code please contact Janet. janet@crcminnesota.org. SUMMARY:Setting Boundaries in Mediation
DESCRIPTION:Setting Boundaries in Mediation\n\n\nEven though participant self-determination is at the core of our mediator principles\, setting boundaries during a mediation is a necessary consideration\, which may appear contradictory. This webinar will take a look at when it is appropriate and useful to set boundaries\, as well as best practices for doing so. We’ll also examine self-determination and neutrality to look at the gray areas of our best practices discussion. \n 1 ADR CE credits awarded \n1 CLE credits applied for \nNO CHARGE for active CRC volunteer mediators – If you do not know the Promo Code please contact Janet. janet@crcminnesota.org. DESCRIPTION:30-Hour Mediator Training – online – Thursday evenings January 12 through March 2\n\n\n30-Hour Civil Facilitative Hybrid Mediation ONLINE Class  \n8-week class – Thursday nights in January and ending in March \nDates: January 12\, 19\, 26; February 2\, 9\,16\, 23; and March 2 \nTime: 5:00 to 9:15 pm \nCost: $800 \n**Register by January 2 to ensure you receive the manual (via UPS) by the first day of class. \n \nCRC’s 30-Hour Mediator Training is a comprehensive\, experiential course that teaches how to skillfully facilitate conversations between people in conflict by having frank and important dialogues and assisting them to reach mutually satisfactory outcomes. \nParticipants will purchase The Mediator’s Handbook: Revised & Expanded Fourth Edition\, by Jennifer E.
